Samsung’s UK Head Office has incorporated Privacy Smart Glass into their newly refurbished Connected Living Experience Centre, offering a quiet haven right in the heart of this busy office space.

Smartglass International, in collaboration with trusted partner ODC Glass, helped realise this client’s dream for the space at an affordable price within very tight deadlines. The client wanted a welcoming and accessible feel for a kitchenette-style room within an open-plan office space that could be quickly transformed into a private area when needed. The solution was Privacy Smart Glass, which allows for the area to be closed off from the rest of the room while also maintaining a connectedness between spaces.

Privacy Smart Glass is unique in its ability to be many things at once. Using safe, low-level electrical currents, these glass panes can transform from transparent to opaque in less than 0.1 seconds, creating a quiet, enclosed space without permanent partitions or finicky blinds.

In their transparent state these panels act as windows, allowing for natural light to traverse the space and facilitating an open-plan feel. In their opaque state, the panels provide complete privacy, while still furnishing the room with a considerable amount of light.

For this project, the panes are connected to a smart system and controlled by a remote switch for ultimate accessibility.
